However, during his speech at the UNC intro ceremony, he opened up about his admiration for the University of Wisconsin’s football program.

He praised their dedication to developing student-athletes and their emphasis on building a strong team culture. Belichick also commended the University of Wisconsin for its rich football history, which includes three Rose Bowl wins and a plethora of NFL talent.
“It’s a program that’s built on tradition and excellence,” Belichick said. “They’ve had a lot of great players and coaches come through there, and they’ve always been a team that’s tough to play against. I’ve always had a lot of respect for the way they do things at Wisconsin.”
Belichick’s admiration for the University of Wisconsin is not new. In fact, he has often spoken about the influence that former Badgers coach Barry Alvarez had on his own coaching philosophy. Alvarez, who coached at Wisconsin from 1990 to 2005, is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in college football history.
“Barry Alvarez was a guy who I had a lot of respect for,” Belichick said. “He was a great coach, and he built a great program at Wisconsin. I think he’s one of the guys who helped me shape my coaching philosophy, especially when it comes to building a team culture and developing players.”
Belichick’s comments about the University of Wisconsin were met with applause from the crowd at the UNC intro ceremony. It’s clear that he has a deep respect for the Badgers’ program and the values that they represent.
