New Jersey Lawmaker Calls for Emergency Declaration Over Mysterious Drone Sightings

In recent weeks, multiple reports of mysterious drone sightings have surfaced in New Jersey, leaving authorities and residents alike wondering about the origin and purpose of these unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In response to these sightings, State Senator Mike Doherty has called for a limited state of emergency, citing concerns over public safety and national security.

The first reported sighting occurred on January 22nd in Bergen County, where a resident claimed to have seen a drone hovering above a residential area. Since then, similar sightings have been reported in several other counties, including Morris, Sussex, and Warren. While some have speculated that the drones may be related to criminal activity or even terrorism, authorities have yet to determine their purpose or origin.

Senator Doherty, a Republican representing the 23rd Legislative District, expressed his concerns about the sightings in a statement released on February 1st. “The recent reports of mysterious drone sightings in New Jersey are deeply troubling and warrant immediate action,” he said. “As a state senator, it is my duty to ensure the safety and security of our citizens, and I believe that declaring a limited state of emergency is necessary to address this situation.”

Doherty’s call for a limited state of emergency would grant authorities additional powers to investigate and respond to the sightings. This could include increased surveillance, coordination with federal agencies, and potentially even the deployment of counter-drone technology.

While some have questioned the severity of the situation, others have expressed support for Doherty’s proposal. “We need to take these sightings seriously and take action to protect our communities,” said Assemblyman Parker Space, a Republican representing the 24th Legislative District. “Declaring a limited state of emergency is a necessary step to ensure that we are doing everything possible to keep our residents safe.”

The New Jersey State Police have launched an investigation into the sightings, but so far, no arrests have been made or suspects identified. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has also been notified and is assisting in the investigation.

As the investigation continues, residents are left wondering about the motivations behind the drone sightings. Are they simply pranks gone wrong, or is something more sinister at play? One thing is certain: the people of New Jersey demand answers, and Senator Doherty’s call for a limited state of emergency is a step towards getting them.
