The Game Awards 2024: Live Updates, Winners, and New Trailers Revealed

The Game Awards 2024 took place on December 12, 2024, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. The event was live-streamed on various platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Gaming. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the show featured a mix of live music performances, celebrity appearances, and world premieres of upcoming games.

The night’s biggest award, Game of the Year, went to “Elden Ring,” the action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game received widespread critical acclaim for its engaging gameplay, rich storyline, and immersive world.

“The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” trailer, providing a deeper look into the upcoming Nintendo Switch exclusive.
“Resident Evil 4” remake announcement, revealing a reimagining of the classic survival horror game.
“Street Fighter 6” trailer, showcasing the latest installment in the iconic fighting game series.

Additionally, several new game releases were announced during the event, including “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty” and “Death Stranding: Director’s Cut.”

The Game Awards 2024 also featured several live music performances, including a concert by the Foo Fighters and a special performance by the game composer, Bear McCreary.

The event concluded with a special tribute to the late game developer, Yuji Horii, who passed away earlier this year. Horii was best known for his work on the Dragon Quest series and was a pioneer in the RPG genre.
